Ron Higdon

Mooresville High School - Theatre Arts

I am originally from the Bluegrass of Kentucky. I have a Bachelor’s degree from The State University of New York (Geneseo) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of South Carolina.

I worked professionally with Round House Theatre, The Arena Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre at the Folger, and The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. I’ve also worked at The University of Virginia, George Mason University, and The University of Kentucky Theatre. I spent 24 summers working for The Stephen Foster Story, an outdoor theatre in Bardstown, KY.

I moved to North Carolina in 1991 to take a Theatre position at Davidson College where I worked for 16+ years. I have taught High School Theatre since 2007 and at MHS since 2014.  This is my 34th year teaching Theatre Arts.

One of my hobbies outside of Theatre Arts is Minor League Baseball (I've been to over 100 stadiums throughout the country). I enjoy biking, disc golf, crosswords, sudoku, Art museums, and Rehoboth Beach.

I've lived in Mooresville since 1995 with my beautiful wife, Belinda. My daughter Olivia graduated from MHS (2014) and Queens University of Charlotte (2018) and is a board-certified Music-Therapist on staff at Broughton Hospital in Morganton.

My priority is my relationship with my students. Welcome to Mooresville High School Theatre
